The Propel Student Work Placement Program, led by Tourism HR Canada, offers paid work-integrated learning opportunities in tourism and hospitality.
Participating students benefit from hands-on instruction and mentoring. Employers acquire critically needed workers, along with assistance with wages.
Propel offers employers a wage subsidy of up to 75 per cent of a qualifying student’s wages, to a maximum of $7,000.
Employers can apply retroactively for qualifying students’ wages that were paid any time after June 1, 2021.
Students enrolled at a recognized post-secondary institution can apply for a paid position to fulfil a co-op placement or internship.
Tourism HR Canada offers online information sessions to address questions from employers. Register for the upcoming Propel Student Work Placement Program Info Session, July 21, 11 a.m. (CST).
The free webinar will explain the program and show employers how to apply for wage subsidies. A Q&A session will follow the presentation. Questions can be submitted in advance via the registration form. More information about the program is available at tourismhr.ca or by emailing propel@tourismhr.ca.
