Loon Lake RCMP are reminding people to secure their cabins and seasonal properties after receiving reports of break and enters in the detachment area.
On the morning of October 6, 2025, Loon Lake RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a property on Murphy/Fowler Lake where several ATVs, generators, and other personal items were taken. No property damage was reported to police during this incident.
On October 23, 2025, a second break and enter was reported at the same property. Multiple personal items were taken and extensive property damage was reported.
Police believe these two incidents to be related. Loon Lake RCMP continue to speak with residents in the area and ask anyone with information on these incidents to report it to police.
Loon Lake RCMP will continue to patrol the detachment area and remind residents to take precautions to help deter property crime.
Below are some safety tips for preparing your cabin for the off-season:
- Keep everything of value out of view and consider taking what you can home with you
- Consider installing security cameras if you’re able
- Use motion-sensor exterior lighting and indoor lighting timers
- Make your place look lived in and ensure the property is maintained while you’re away
- Keep a catalogue of your belongings
- Before you leave, make sure all doors, windows and outbuildings are locked and secured
- Finally, make friends with your neighbours and have a year-round resident check on your property from time to time.
Report any suspicious activity to your local RCMP by dialling 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
