Job Opportunity – Pest Control Officer

The Rural Municipality of Loon Lake No. 561 is currently looking for an independent contractor to perform the duties of PEST CONTROL OFFICER under The Pest Control Act.

Applicants must:

  1. Hold a valid Structural Applicator Licence (Pesticide Licence) or willing to acquire one.
  2. Possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers Licence
  3. Supply their own vehicle.

The PCO will be expected to work as many hours per day as may be required to control or destroy any pests within each municipality. The PCO will be required to fill out and submit Rat Infestation Reports and PCO Inspections Reports. These are required as part of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) Rat Control Program.

Specific Skills:

  1. Advise clients on how to prevent pest infestation.
  2. Prepare and spray chemical mixture on infested areas.
  3. Place and set traps to capture and remove animals.
  4. Install animal control barriers to keep animals off property
  5. Inspect buildings and outside areas to detect signs of infestations.
  6. Neutralize pests through control measures such as pesticide application, baiting and trapping.
